Newbies Task 5—Lets Make A Thumbnail

Hello, Hivers and friends! Welcome to my blog!

The Newbie initiative is still ongoing, and today I bring to you my 5th task counting from the onset of the program.
This task is based on the use of Canva for creating thumbnails for our content on Hive.

Before I go any further, I would like to express my gratitude to Hive account@starstrings01 for always being there for us on discord, and Hive account@olujay who took his time to explain and teach us, all that we needed to know about thumbnails and the use of Canva.

My partner for this task is Hive account@lizizoo, we discussed extensively on what we learned in Sunday class and also made some girly complaints about the cost of subscribing to Canvas Premium, so
as to have access to good templates and graphics.

NOW THE QUESTIONS

1) With your own understanding, explain what you understand by "thumbnail." Hence, discuss why they have to be stunning and of what importance it is in relation to creating content.

A thumbnail is a brief pictorial representation of our article. It is a small image attached to an article/post to attract viewers' attention and provide a visual summary of the article's content.

2) What are the dimensions in relation to creating thumbnails? What is the general size (or dimensions) for a thumbnail, and explain why it is so?

A thumbnail has to be stunning to capture people's attention and escalate their interest in our post.
A stunning thumbnail gives our potential readers a good impression of our content.

A good and truthful thumbnail can increase views & votes on our content, and followers on hive.

A ‘stunning and truthful’ thumbnail contains real and sufficient information on what is in the article. It should be enticing as well as give your readers an idea of what they are about reading.

3) For this task, make two thumbnails. Use one as the main, and provide the other in the post. Both images should be different yet relevant to the post. Hence, provide a step-by-step explanation of how you achieve each.

The general and most preferable dimensions for a thumbnail are 1280 x 720 pixels.
The reason is to ensure optimal and clear visibility of our thumbnail designs.

ℋо𝑤 𖼨 Ⅽrｅ𝒂𝒕𝕖 Ⲧ𝖍𝔢 𝞐ᖯ𐓪ꮩ𝖊 𝕋һꭒ𝒎𝑏𝑛𝒂𝗂𐌉!

1) Download and open Canva app in your phone/Pc

2) Search for YouTube thumbnails or any satisfiable design.

3) Choose your favorite from one of the several thumbnails

4) Use the plus (+) icon to edit your designs. All other design elements are listed for users as shown in the photo.

5) Click on the download icon and choose JPG format, then click on final download. It will be automatically downloaded to your device .

4) Explain why the JPG format should be your preferred export format.

The jpg format should be my preferred export format because it takes minimum storage space and requires less data to download.
