Vaughan Springs

Formerly a large gold rush town, Vaughan Springs was once a popular alluvial gold and market gardening area for Chinese miners in the area. Now, it is a scenic picnic, bush walking and camping area run by Parks Victoria. Doe to the heavy recent rains, the park was closed to vehicles, so we parked on the outside and walked the short distance in.
This region in Victoria is famous for its mineral water springs, with Vaughan Springs being one of these locations. The water from the spring is accessed by the use of a hand pump. Each location offers a different taste in the water due to what minerals are in the rocks and soil in that particular area. Mineral water is tasty and very good for you.
We took a walk along the swollen river, admiring the beautiful surrounding bushland and on the way back to the car, we took another drink from the spring before driving off through an unusual log archway on the road leading to the park.
