Where's the Rum Gone? .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 230

Okay, I admit... I changed the original quote from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean a bit to suit my blog post... 😃 The original was "Why is the Rum Gone?", but I needed a bit different... So, welcome to another rant inspired by this movie quote, and a couple of recent news around the globe...

First things first... That movie is one of my favorite movies of all time, and probably the whole trilogy pentalogy is one of the best... If you didn't watch it, you missed a lot of laughs and fun... For those who didn't watch, the rum's gone because the lady from the GIF decided to burn it all, to create a big smoke signal to be found from that deserted island...

Now back to the topic... Which isn't about the rum, but rather about MONEY... I try to avoid the word HATE, as I think it's wrong to hate something, but I can say that I hate politics, and I can't stand politicians... I was dealing with some in real life, and they didn't change my view at all... They were exactly as I was imagining... Corrupted, filthy, egoistic people, poisoned by power... Long story short, I do try to avoid politics, and I try to skip any news regarding politics, but sometimes, that's impossible to do...

Like recently, with all this Musk-Trump drama that was happening, where you put in the mix some wealthy people in a combo along with politics... To be honest, I'm pretty conservative regarding both of them, but I saw a comment on the Internet about the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), where the author of the post asked a simple question: "Where's the money gone?" There were some cuts (not enough to fill the hole), but the story never got the ending with the answer...

The second news that I (unfortunately) read was about how the EU (European Union) is pressuring Spain to start implementing tolls on their highways! 😡 The best thing that happened to Spain in recent years was the lifting of tolls on most of the highways in the country, which helped with the budget of ordinary people... But, somewhere since the end of 2024, there is a big pressure by the EU to bring back tolls...

The campaign continued this year, and that's how I found this news... As you can see, there are some numbers in the game, which means that the change will happen sooner rather than later! But what I can't stand the most are statements like this:

Currently, the maintenance of Spain's road network is funded almost exclusively through the public budget, which, according to Seopan, diverts resources from other areas such as pensions, healthcare, and education.

Amazing! Politicians who care about their citizens! (Irony alert! 😃) Who would say something like that exists? Do you believe in fairytales? 😃

Honestly, I don't care anymore about them... It's just annoying... Do whatever you want, but don't touch my crypto! 🙂
