Goodbye Walk From Split, Croatia

I don't know why I didn't post these great photos from last year's HiveFest, Split before... Maybe because I did them on my last day after the official event, on my way to the airport, flying away from my Hive friends... Maybe it was a too painful experience to share before, but I'm ready to share it today with you... Why today? You will find the answer at the end of this post...

So, let's go back to the past and get some of these warm, late summer sun rays... It was 16th September 2024, and my last day in Split, Croatia... I have packed all my stuff and accompanied by Hive account@ninaeatshere here, hit the street (or better said the promenade) of the city... We left the apartment and strolled around to see something of the city, as the previous days, most time was spent with other Hivians hanging around in open areas of museums, dungeons, and smokey billiard bars... 😃

In previous days we were always in a hurry to reach the meeting points at a specific time, we would always take the shortest route to the city center... Because of that, we missed 99% of the rest of the city... lol... That's why, this time, we went on a different route, a bit around the city, and we didn't regret that decision!

The morning was perfect... It wasn't too hot, but it was sunny... I did have my fully-packed backpack with me, but I didn't mind that... I was there to enjoy the last moments in Split!

If you were wondering why Croatia is so strong in water polo, this is probably the answer to your question... They have a water polo "field" in the sea!!! Because pool sucks... 😃

Our walk route went by the busy tourist port of the city... We could see boats ranging from small fishing boats to old sailing boats, new yachts, and ocean liners... There was something for everyone!

When we reached the city, going out without breakfast, we had to find one of the "authentic" bakeries... After checking out a few, I think we nailed one that was perfect... Of course, we had to eat one of the typical (breakfast) meals for the Balkans (and maybe a bit more down to our friends in Turkiye)... This on the plate is burek and it has to go accompanied with a yogurt...

After breakfast, we went to the bar where we had a deal with the owner to pay for our drinks in HBD, so you can see Nina paying the bill with their Keychain wallet!!!

The next stop was another bar/restaurant as some Hivians didn't have the privilege to get up earlier for a "burek", so they were hungry... 😃 I was sitting at the table with the "German gang", while on the other 2 tables were the rest of the crew...

That was my farewell point where I had to say goodbye to my HIVE friends whom I was hanging around for 4-5 days... 😢 Some of them stayed another day and enjoyed a bit more in other's company, but I had my flight that afternoon...

So, I hit the road to the bus station which took me to the airport... As the bus was 105% full, I wasn't able to move, so no photos from that trip... 😂

I got on time, and had almost an hour until my flight which I used to walk around this small airport... Not so small that it can't fit a piano where you can sit and play... Having a pianist at home, I had to take a photo of a random guy playing it... 🙂

First stop, Rome airport... Been there on my way to Split, and did a lot of photos, so this time, I was just sitting and resting...

The second stop is Valencia airport... Home, but still not home... a 1.5-hour car drive to home... That was it... my long walk/flight/bus drive/car drive home... It was an exhausting day, full of emotions, and a bit sad as I left my friends in Split... But...

So, I'm sharing these photos and the "last-day experience" with you as it is much easier to do it now than yesterday, the day before yesterday, or a month ago... Why? Well, I have bought my ticket for the next BIG HIVE MEETUP!!! It is the 2nd #HiveBuzzParty event (last year it was in Hamburg), and it will be held in Graz, Austria! There are a limited amount of tickets and if I'm not wrong, only 10 more are left for grabs!!! The price is only 10 HBD per person, and I wouldn't like to miss some of you, my friends...
