บนเกาะนี้มีเพียงพื้นที่ราบที่ใช้เป็นหมู่บ้านที่ตั้งอยู่บนชายฝั่งทางตอนใต้ของเกาะ ตั้งอยู่ตรงข้ามเกาะ Flores พื้นที่ที่ราบเรียบนี้มีบ้านเรือนนับสิบที่ถูกกวาดล้างไปด้วยคลื่นสึนามิ ประชากรประมาณ 1093 คนซึ่งเสียชีวิตในฐานะผู้ที่ตกเป็นเหยื่อของสึนามิเมื่อวันที่ 12 ธันวาคม 2535 มีผู้เสียชีวิต 700 ราย 26 ปีแล้วตอนนี้เกาะหมูไม่ใช่ชาวเมืองอีกต่อไป เกาะที่สวยงามแห่งนี้ได้รับการเยี่ยมเยือนจากชาวพื้นเมืองให้ปลูกถั่วเท่านั้น มีบ้านเรียบง่ายที่สร้างขึ้นเพื่อพักพิง แต่ทัศนียภาพที่แปลกใหม่ของชายหาดที่เป็นธรรมชาติและเสน่ห์ใต้น้ำบนเกาะยังคงรักษาเสน่ห์ที่ทำให้เราประหลาดใจ หาดทรายสีขาวและน้ำทะเลที่ยังไม่ถูกทำลายจากมลภาวะจะทำให้ผู้เข้าชมเดินทางมาเยือนเกาะนี้ได้สะดวกสบาย
