PGM Power Up Week - How to buy and power up PGM

PGM.png

Hello everyone! Pozdrav svima!

PGM Power Up Week is back!

As PGMPOWERUPWEEK happens aprox. every two months, and you missed the chance to power up during this week, hopefully this post will help you prepare for next event.

First, let's explain what PGM actually is, what can you use it for, what are the benefits of having and staking PGM.

What is PGM

PGM or PLAY GAMER TOKEN is a HIVE engine token, started as a Fortnite community token, but it became so much more.

Being a HIVE engine token means it can be bought on HIVE engine market and it can be exchanged between HIVE users.

PGM token is most commonly used as a TIP token (more on that later), but it can be used to buy/sell other NFTs like dCity cards on NTFM.art market. There are other projects that collaborate with PGM, read about them here.

How to buy PGM

Let's assume you already have a HIVE account and a HIVE Keychain app set up. If you don't, there are plenty tutorials out there how to set things up.

As I already mentioned earlier, you can buy PGM token from HIVE engine market. In order to do so, go to this site:

https://hive-engine.com/trade/PGM

Login with your HIVE username and check your SWAP.HIVE balance in your wallet. All the purchases on this market are done with SWAP.HIVE and for the sake of this post we'll assume you have some SWAP.HIVE in your wallet.

Your screen should look like this:

image.png

On the top of the screen you can see the price of the PGM token - first number is now much SWAP.HIVE does 1 PGM token cost, and underneath is that value in USD (depending on the HIVE value on the crypto market). Other numbers are value change in the last 24 hours, lowest listing for SELL (Ask), highest listing for BUY (Bid) and total volume of PGM tokens traded in last 24 hours.

As you scroll down a bit you will see two columns - left one are bids (Buy Orders) for buying PGM token made by HIVE users, and the right one are asks (Sell Orders) for selling PGM tokens made by PGM token holders.

image.png

You have now two options - you can immediately buy tokens from one of the Sell Orders (this is what we're going to do in this tutorial) or you can set a Buy Order (Bid) at a price you see fit and wait for someone to sell his tokens at that price.

For now we're going to buy some PGM from lowest sell order (the one on top). In order to do so, click on the red label number on top of the Sell Order list. The boxes with the Price, Quantity and Total will be automatically get populated with the values from that order, like in the picture below.

image.png

If you don't have enough SWAP.HIVE to buy all the PGM in that order, click on Balance red label value on the left side and it will recalculate the order to match the amount of SWAP.HIVE you have available. You can also manually change the Price and/or Quantity you want to buy and Total with be recalculated automatically.

image.png

After you have chosen the desired amount of PGM token you want to buy, click on 'Buy PGM' button and confirm the transaction in Hive Keychain app window. And voila! You bought yourself some PGM (or made a bid to buy).

You can now check your PGM token balance in your HIVE engine wallet and see your transactions, you should be able to find this transaction we just made.

How to power up PGM

Now that you bought yourself some PGM you want to power up? Powering up is also called STAKING a token.

I will lead you through the process of staking, it is fairly simple and its done in just a few clicks.

Find the PGM token in your wallet (you can use the search option on top), and click on the STAKE button (the one that looks like a lock).

image.png

This will open a new window where you can choose the amount of PGM token you want to stake (power up). If you want to stake all of it, just click on the label that shows available amount.

image.png

Click on the button 'Stake' and confirm the transaction in Hive Keychain app window.

image.png

Voila! You have now staked your PGM. You can see that the new amount of Staked PGM is showing in your wallet.

image.png

You can check your transaction history by clicking the 'History' button on the far right. It will pull up a list of your latest transactions of that token.

image.png

You can see the transaction details by clicking the 'i' button on the right. That will open a new window showing all the information about the chosen transaction.

How to use your PGM

One way to use your PGM you just powered up is to TIP other HIVE users. This is simply done by writing '!PGM' in the comment of someone's post. Depending on the amount of PGM you have staked you will have a certain number of tips you can do a day. The PGM bot will post reply to your comment that will look something like this:
