The common redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus)
The common redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) is a small bird, smaller than a sparrow.
It inhabits almost all of Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. It spends the winter in Sub-Saharan Africa north of the equator, in northwestern Africa and in the southwestern part of the Arabian Peninsula.
It is a more timid bird than the sparrow, especially the male, which is more colorful (females are brownish-gray). In May (sometimes also in June) the female lays 6-7 turquoise eggs, which she then incubates for 12-14 days.
From my own observation, I can say that their number in Europe is increasing every year.
