Lonely Lady
The orchestra played muted waltz melodies while crystal chandeliers illuminated twirling couples across the ballroom. Eleanor stood alone against the wall in silk-soft gown, its shimmering folds seeming to absorb her solitude. Her eyes continuously scanned the dancing pairs and guests moving along the salon's perimeter, searching desperately for a glance that might signal hope ‒ that single spark of interest amidst this glamorous splendor where she felt impossibly fragile and forgotten.
Hours crawled by, and with them, her hope slowly evaporated. Her desire faded like the music, which grew softer and more distant with each passing moment. Just as she was about to surrender and leave the ballroom, consigning this to yet another evening of futile expectations, she caught a glimpse of an indistinct male silhouette moving toward her. Her heart leaped - this was her final chance, her last dance, her ultimate opportunity...
Orchestr hrál tlumené valčíkové melodie a křišťálové lustry ozařovaly tančící páry. Eleonora stála sama u zdi v hedvábných šatech, jejichž třpytivé záhyby jako by pohlcovaly její osamělost. Neustále sledovala tančící páry i ostatní návštěvníky, co se pohybovali podél stěn sálu. Pátrala po pohledu, který by mohl znamenat naději ‒ po jediném záblesku zájmu uprostřed této slavnostní nádhery, ve které se cítila tak křehká a opuštěná.
Hodiny plynuly a s nimi se vytrácela i její naděje. Její touha se pomalu vytrácela, stejně jako hudba, která zněla stále tlumeněji. V tom posledním okamžiku, když už chtěla opustit sál a nechat za sebou další z řady večerů plných marných očekávání, zaregistrovala neurčitý stín muže, který se k ní pomalu blížil. Její srdce poskočilo ‒ byla to poslední šance, poslední tanec, poslední příležitost…
This time I approached it in shades of gray. I was worried it might turn out melancholic and depressing, but I think it actually turned out quite well.
While painting, I had Strauss's Viennese waltzes playing in the background. Though I'm not entirely sure if that influenced the final result in any noticeable way.
Tentokrát jsem to pojal v šedých tónech. Bál jsem se, že to bude smutné a depresívní, ale myslím, že se to docela povedlo.
Při malování jsem si pouštěl Straussovy vídeňské valčíky. Ale vůbec netuším, jestli se to na výsledku nějak projevilo.
