Community service has begun

Hello, friends at Gems, how are you? I’m grateful to God for allowing me to share with you again. Today I’ll be telling you about this new phase in my career that’s about to begin, one that brings me closer to my degree every day.

Yesterday, the university called us to start our community service projects, where each medical department will leave something behind for the university. Each department formed a group of 10 people, and my group was assigned to renovate a bathroom on campus.

Yesterday we had the meeting and put on the T-shirts that identify us. Doing this is another goal accomplished, since, with God’s help, in December I’ll be wearing my white coat as an undergraduate intern. And now that I’ve started community service, you can see that I’m no longer the same girl who arrived at the university scared on the first day—the one who was afraid of failing and not making it— but now that I look back, I’ve come a long way, and I’m very proud of myself for everything I’ve endured, and all those nights praying to God and asking Him to guide me along this path. Every day I’m getting closer to becoming a doctor—it hasn’t been easy, but giving up hasn’t been an option.
