Patsitivity's Palate: K-dinner with Oppa!
I have previously mentioned that we don't usually go out on our monthsaries. I'm documenting here the few times we went out to celebrate.
This was a few months back, about the same time when a new Korean convenience store called Funhan Mart opened a branch less than 2 kilometers away from my office. With the overly sparkling design of the store, it would be difficult not to be curious of what they sell here.
In one of our monthsaries, we decided to grab late Korean dinner in Funhan Mart. Since it was a bit late for dinner, there were only a few people in the store. We roamed around, tried to discover interesting Korean food options that we haven't had before. We grabbed some frozen Mandu (Korean dumplings), spicy ramen, cheese toppoki, and of course it wouldn't be complete without kimchi. My boyfriend felt the need to grab some boiled egg, too.
Aside from convenience, one thing that drew a lot of attention in this store is the experience.
For frozen food items such as Mandu, customer will re-heat it in a microwave and in less than 5 minutes, your food is ready. For the ramen, you'll be cooking it yourself in their EZ Cook Machine or instant ramen cooker. They have store staffs who will assist you along the way. When in comes to their drinks, you can buy their cold drinks straight from their refrigerators but if you want it to be ice-cold, you can buy cups with ice and pour your drink of choice their.
To put it bluntly, it wasn't the healthiest meal I had. I can only imagine the high sodium content present in each of our orders as all of them are processed food. It wouldn't hurt to eat here occassionally tho. The dining experience was superb.
