Today's my last working day this year. Wohooo! ๐Ÿ˜ Just kidding! Well, it's my last day in the office but will be working from home in the next days.

I've mentioned this before in my work anniversary post, 6 out of 9 of the workforce I'm managing resigned this year alone. That's a lot! And for people like me who are leading teams, high attrition rate is a headache. These days it's just difficult to keep people. I don't hate training other people, in fact I love doing it. I love passing on my knowledge and skills to others. For what good will my knowledge and skills be if they remain in my head, right? But despite that fact, who would want to spare their precious hours to train newbies (in our case mostly fresh graduates) on top of everything I am currently doing? I've managed to make time to train my new hires but if there's another way, I'd gladly take that.

Instead of mourning the lost of great employees, I look at the positive side of hiring new blood. It may cost me my precious time but new hires give me hope to start afresh.

And just last Thursday, we scheduled our first ever team get-together. This time we're already complete both replacements and additional manpower. I wanted to just hangout in a coffee shop perhaps but they wanted karaoke night, I gave in to their suggestions and found ourselves singing and dancing in Mic Check in Escario St. When I used to manage 3-4 people only, I used to buy them dinner (usually unlimited samgyupsal) but given that samgyup costs at least Php 450 these days and there are eight (8) of them, I definitely couldn't shoulder everything now haha Instead, I paid 25% of our total bill and they shared the rest.

I'm just glad that they enjoyed the night and even for a few hours forgot about the tons of work awaiting in our office. ๐Ÿ˜
