Witness Update

This isn't much of an update. I've been extremely busy working to remove payouts from comment & post farms as well as track down some booster abuse.

Some one asked me why I waste my time to downvote 300+ posts a day with under $200 SBD in rewards. The answer is simple - These accounts will not stop unless they quite receiving rewards. It doesn't matter if they are only earning a penny a post or comment. Automated posting with bots across multiple accounts makes growing their farms a no brainier. They are adding accounts every day created by Steemit Inc for free!

I don't have a total figure on the reward pool drain from all the accounts I've been tracking but I know for one group it is significant. I will refrain from posting numbers here. Anyone can find the amounts with SteemSQL or SteemData.

I spent about 8 hours yesterday analyzing @minnowbooster upvotes. What I found saddened & shocked me. I am working with the @minnowbooster team to stem the tide of abuse. They have updated their TOS and it can be found on their Discord chat in #minnowbooster-help.

Those I find using @minnowbooster to comment & post farm will be reported. @minnowbooster will remove their upvote and blacklist them. The offender will NOT receive a refund. I was on the fence about not issuing a refund but after yesterday I am 100% behind it.

I've not been able to balance my workload and I ended up falling short on commenting the last week. Commenting is only part of the workload for myself and other members of @steemcleaners but it is one of the ways we generate revenue for the group as well as the rewards we distribute to the community.

In addition to commenting we research, write scripts, identify & respond to threats such as the latest phishing attempts, refining queries, and responding to the community.

With all the abuse being reported it is impossible to track it all down. Prioritizing has become key. Sometimes commenting takes a backseat to researching and stopping abuse that is a higher than average volume or a drain on the reward pool. Such as the case with the recent booster abuse.

@steemcleaners needs the communities support during these times. If you have some spare voting power please consider upvoting a @steemcleaners post or comment.
