Krueng Pase River

How are you, friends? Best wishes to you all, wherever you are.

On this occasion, I'd like to share about my journey a few days ago. I crossed a river in my area, North Aceh. The river I crossed was called the Krueng Pase River.

This river is very old and has been dredged and widened many times. This was done to prevent the river from overflowing and flooding.

I also crossed a bridge connecting villages across the Krueng Pase River. This bridge has been rebuilt and repaired several times. When I was a child, the bridge wasn't like this. When you walk up it feels like it's swinging, unlike the bridge it is now. The height also feels higher than it is now.

On the banks of the river, wild plants and trees grow thickly. Certainly, they are very useful in preventing erosion. However, I remember there used to be a lot of bamboo growing along the riverbank. After the river widening, this is very difficult, and perhaps there is no bamboo growing along the riverbank anymore. In some places, the land has been eroded by high water and rain.

The Krueng Pase River also provides a livelihood for some of the people living along its banks. They use it as a bathing place and use the river water for drinking and other daily needs.

The roads along the river are also very narrow and difficult to navigate. This is just my experience, and my own account is consistent with the facts on the ground.

Note: I am writing in Indonesian and using the help of Google translate to translate into English.
