Dry riverbed
The Enipeas Mythical Tour is a hiking adventure through the Enipeas Gorge on Mount Olympus, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and mythological significance. Stepping into the home of the Greek gods is a truly extraordinary experience.
At least, that’s how it’s described.
Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite match the myth. I set out with the idea of stretching my legs and enjoying a hike through this legendary gorge, which is said to be full of surprises, waterfalls, caves, and a variety of flora and fauna. The staff at the info point were friendly and helpful, giving me clear directions to the trailhead and tips on where to find refreshments along the way.
But somehow, they left out one crucial detail, the one that suggests they may not have walked the trail themselves. At this time of year, there’s no river. What I found instead was the dry, rocky riverbed of the Enipeas River. The dramatic waters and lush scenery I had imagined were missing, replaced by a much drier, less mystical version of the tour.
Nevertheless, that did not stop me from making a few snaps :)
