Your Capacity For Speech Is Divine, a freewrite
I doubt there are very many of my (very few) regular followers who think I would pass on today's freewrite prompt government approved censorship.
Alex Jones was the first person that I knew of who was censored. Even though I thought he was a complete nut job at that time, I cried "FOUL!" I'm old enough to have had civics taught to me in school, and I valued then, as I do now, our freedom to speak our minds and to expound upon what we see as truth, without restrictions from our government.
I was a rabid liberal at that time, and my "friends" did not take kindly to my defending Jones' right to say whatever he wanted to say. He had done no harm in my book. You don't like him, don't listen to him.
Alex Jones went on to contest his silencing in a courageous way. I gained a lot of respect for him when he did that. I still don't listen to him, I can't stand his voice and his demeanor, but he has a right to say what he thinks, as we all do.
We've experienced a rapid decline in freedom since then. Now, we don't even have to be present at events to be convicted and sent to prison for decades because the event happened.
Wake up people. Alex Jones may have been one of the first, but they are coming for all of us.
Don't squelch your voice. Stand up for your truth.
Here's a recent, and short, video of Jordan Peterson on the matter of the importance of speaking your personal truth, out loud and proud.
This is my entry to @mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is government approved censorship.
