Steam Rollers and Goblins, a freewrite

It wasn't pretty. The ball had landed right in a pile of dung at my feet. I suppose I should have been grateful - the ball's landing there prevented me from stepping in the doo - but there was the ball, it was my turn for a throw, and the ball was covered in dung.

I heard a tiny laugh at my side, behind my right ankle. When I turned to look, there he was.

Dobby, you've gone too far this time. I cannot forgive you.

Dobby hung his head as if in shame, but I could see the glint in his eye.

At that very moment, an enormous steamroller came barreling down the slope, headed right for Dobby and me, no one in the driver's seat. An out-of-control steamroller!

I grabbed Dobby and ran for cover. The steam roller flattened the ball into the doo doo.

Poor Dobby, that was his favorite ball.

The moral of the story is, you never know when an out-of-control steam roller is going to flatten your mischievous plans.

This is my entry to mariannewest@mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is protect the goblin.

It's been quite a while since I last published a freewrite, not because I haven't written any, but because I haven't been happy with those I have written. They've been stilted and unimaginative, unpublishable in my opinion. This one has a bit of merit. I guess I needed a little fey creature to help me along.

I used eg.gtimer and this darn thing was finished, proof read and all, when the timer went off.
