High Potential, a freewrite
“You raised the toilet seat after I pooped? To inspect it?”
I did. I always do that.
“Do you always raise toilet seats to inspect them? After everyone?”
I do. I like to know what people are eating, and to know when they are sick. Fecal material is the best evidence of both. For instance, there’s the red of excreted beets, and there’s the red of gastrointestinal disease.”
“OK. You always go into a bathroom after someone has just used the toilet and inspect it for 'evidence'!?”
Of course.
Doesn’t everyone?
“Remember that conversation you and I had last week? We discussed how some of your behaviors might be seen as somewhat weird? “
She cocked her head, thinking.
“This is most definitely weird behavior, Mom.”
This is my entry to @mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Yesterday's prompt was bury the evidence. The title refers to a series I am currently bingeing, titled "High Potential." I recommend this series! I have been sucked right in.
I worked differently this time. Instead of writing for five timed minutes, then proofreading briefly after the timer went off, I proofread as I went along and had it all done by five minutes.
I like this story! A lovely little twist I hadn't see coming myself. Bliss.
