Shattered

Shattered
A kaleidoscope of minds
Criss-crossed lines
In one head
Telling me nothing new
Giving me nothing to do.

I don’t call you insane
Lightly
I can endure the pain
Slightly
Break off contact
Write a contract
With only the rules
That you enforce tightly.

Who am I speaking to?
Which identity?
You have a few
To which I'm a non-entity.

Duty and obligation
Are the words of one
It gives no explanation.
Just a monotone
Voice of fear
To my ear
Repeating the same lines
Without agitation.

One does not hate me.
It's worse,
It's indifferent.
It's a curse
To a man hung in a tree
Trying to save the soul
Of one deep in a hole
Of her own misery.

But she doesn't care
My help she will not bear.
She cannot endure
My words of love.
She will not ensure
My will above
All will be honored.
She can't be bothered.

Somewhere in the middle is you.

So I'll ignore
I'll be a boar
I'll play hard to get
And hope you fret
And come find me
Hung on that tree
Hoping you all return
And learn
To love me.
