AFRITUNES WEEK 69 | A COVER OF 'NOW IT IS EVENING' @onos-f
TIME TO CEASE FROM LABOUR
Hello dear friends, for the past ten years, I have been on a voyage of regorous studies of Philosophy and theology. To God be the glory... this voyage which started in 2012 came to its terminus few days ago with my written and Oral BTH examinations. It is now time to cease from labour and have some good rest from academic Jojo ☺. At least @ksam will stop calling me a student (that guy no let me rest at all). I must tell you dear friends, it was not an easy journey. If you asked me, I would simply say 'it was challenging and encouraging'. However, to God be the Glory for seeing me through all my challenges and crowning my efforts with success. 🙏
In this week 69 of @afritunes, I have decided to bring to you a song with the title 'NOW IT IS EVENING TIME TO CEASE FROM LABOUR'. We usually sing this song during night prayers to mark the end of the day, but today I'm doing it to mark the end of my academic journies at least for now (make man rest small abeg)☺
I am doing this song with the accompaniments of two of my younger brothers who just began the journey I started 12 years ago. May God also see them through by his grace! Amen. Benedict will play the guitar while John will be our drummer. I will sing and also play the violin for you. As you listen to us, I hope you derive some meaning spending your precious time with us. Cheers 🥂
LYRICS
Now it is evening; time to cease from labour,
Father, according to thy will and pleasure,
Through the night-season, have thy faithful people
Safe in thy keeping.
Far from our dwellings drive the evil spirits;
Under the shadow of thy wings protect us;
Be thou our guardian through the hours of darkness,
Strong to defend us.
Call we, ere sleeping, on the name of Jesus;
Rise we at day-break, strong to serve thee better;
Order our goings, well begun and ended,
All to thy glory.
Fountain of goodness, bless the sick and needy;
Visit the captive, solace the afflicted;
Shelter the stranger, feed your starving children;
Strengthen the dying.
Father, who neither slumberest nor sleepest,
Thou, to whom darkness is as clear as noonday,
Have us this night-time, for the sake of Jesus,
Safe in thy keeping.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR RELATING WITH MY ENTRY. CHEERS
