It's a measure of people who don't understand,
The pleasures of life in a hillbilly man.

The longer I live, the more I realize that many of life's greatest pleasures come from the most simple things. This beautifully Sublime Sunday is a perfect case in point. I had a fun time just going to the local farm store.

These sunflowers seem to be trying their best to grow up to the sun itself!

The adventure begins with a short, pleasurable, country drive winding through the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Quite unlike last year when we seemed to be in a perpetual drought and everywhere looked dry and barely clinging to life, this year everything is vibrant green and very lush.

Soon we arrive at a tiny Country Market that is the perfect cross between a roadside vegetable stand in a small country store. They offer many locally grown choices of fruits and vegetables ranging from corn, tomatoes, and green beans to watermelons, cantaloupes, peaches and apples. They have locally baked pies and bread as well as locally produced jars of honey and preserves.

I really love places like these little country stores where one can support local family businesses.

They even have a good selection of these humorous signs for purchase...

Of course they have essentials like Farm Fresh eggs, milk, locally raised bacon and cheese.

It almost goes without saying that the lady that runs it is so friendly and such a treat to chat with as I make my weekly purchase of goodies that are my guilty pleasures throughout the week lol.
