Wagerr Is Looking Pretty Decent Right Now
The Wagerr token has done really well over the past week, going up nearly 60% over the period. If you're not familiar with it, Wagerr's a Sports Betting Blockchain Project that will allow you to bypass the bookies and bet head to head with other punters. The promise being tighter spreads and fairer odds (?).
There are a lot of good write-ups on Steemit analyzing the promise of Wagerr, like this one by @costanza, so i won't elaborate more on them. In full disclosure, i invested in the ICO and have a node running, so i do think it has some promise. I do get frustrated by the team's lack of communication at times but so far, they haven't disappointed me too much otherwise.
What's the reason for the pump
It's probably got all to do with an email that the CEO sent out yesterday, writing that Wagerr will be ready for World Cup 2018, that starts in the middle of June. More accurately, the oracle feature (equivalent to witnesses on Steemit) won't actually go live in time for the World Cup. Instead, all the Oracles will be controlled by the Wagerr team and the profits from collecting betting fees will be shared among the existing nodes that are run by investors.
I was looking for some concrete numbers on how much is actually wagered during a World Cup, but there wasn't anything from the official sources like FIFA. According to AlphaSportsBetting, the amount could be around $36 billion. That's a pretty decent sum to take fees on.
In any case, if they actually deliver a product, i hope they can crack the top 80 or top 100 in terms of market capitalization. Fingers crossed!
Not investment advice by any means. There are a lot of competitors out there and you also need to have faith that the Wagerr team will deliver.
