Angkor Wat ist die bekannteste Tempelanlage in Kambodscha. Selbstverstädnlich gibt es hier auch für Besucher stille Örtchen.
Da im 10. Jahrhundert in dieser Region zahlreiche Bewässerungsanlagen und Stauseen angelegt wurden, waren mehrere Reisernten pro Jahr möglich. Aufgrund des Nahrungsüberschusses gelangte das damalige Khmer-Reich zu großem Reichtum. Dies versetzte die Khmer in der Lage, große Städte und imposante Tempelanlagen zu bauen.

Since in the 10th century numerous irrigation systems and reservoirs were built in this region, several rice harvests per year were possible. Due to the food surplus, the Khmer Empire at that time became very wealthy.
This enabled the Khmer to build large cities and imposing temples.
