Stop Loss tactics. Growing into Maturity, & Stuff

There are grown-up adult humans in the world today who were in kinder-care, when I was learning the difficult lessons of manipulative commerce, subtly hidden, isms, and “the awakening” by other trending names.
TGI Friday Fam. Are you ready for some weekend? Looks like we’ve made it to another end of another week.
Most of what I read & watch these days, almost anywhere, not just in the stacks, provides more confirmation than new information. For which our Trinity is grateful. Are the tactics of corporate rip-off culture still the same as I remember? Has the military industrial complex created their super-soldier-slave yet?

Someone posted something about something as if it was something new.
“That was the 80s,” we commented.
“The 80s were ahead of their time,” came the clever response.
Good comeback. The 1980s planted the seeds for much of what we have going on today. It’s not simply for the sake of nostalgia, a word minted to describe “home-sickness,” that the Ronald Reagan era is invoked so often by MAGA supporters. Millennials started coming into the world, (or out of it, if you like), during the Reagan years, so what do you remember? Being confined to a car seat until you were ten years old? MTV & the internet? Soccer moms & mini vans? And then you tried to buy a house you could never mathematically afford?
Drift away.
We’ve concluded that by age 35, most Americans have experienced, (or should have), a bucketful of pleasures and pains, birth, death, betrayal, exuberance, love, tragedy, loyalty, loss, to a significant point where they can be “out-there,” smelling the coffee, so to speak, and knowing the difference between instant and Keurig.
In the next ten years, the curious start noticing inconsistencies, and patterns in institutionalized behaviors, corporate-culture versus freelance-culture, versus entrepreneur-culture. Maybe the standard chorus of conspiracies come your way and you feel compelled to enlighten your cohort on undisclosed “secrets” the US gov, the Third Reich & the Vatican archives are hiding.
We’ve heard it before. But for sure, we haven’t heard all of it. So we keep digging and sometimes we strike gold. That gold confirms, through archival documents revealed by writers and researchers, decrees and papal bulls, how genocidal European Christians have, seemingly always been. The behavior and attitudes from 1000 plus years ago and today are remarkably consistent.
Before there was race there was religion. When the Catholic Church was the global super-power, its doctrine was to the effect that non-Catholics, even those who practiced different forms of Christian teachings, did not even have the human right to life, let alone practice their beliefs & rituals.
It’s amazing. It’s congenital. It continues, with no end in sight.
This rambling mass of thought descended from Universe today. It will show up this afternoon at the regular time. It’s a new offering from us, so maybe a lot of cats haven’t caught-on yet.
In today’s audio companion, we have a real-time, real-life example of how a corporation was charging customers for not using a service that was becoming obsolete. Imagine if you could purchase a motor vehicle that ran on water. Or better-yet, since there are a lot of electric vehicles on the road these days, let’s use that example.
You purchase an electric vehicle and the manufacturer makes a deal with oil companies to add a “stop loss fee” to the cost of the vehicle.
What’s that? you ask.
It’s a fee that is routed to the oil industry for the gas that you would have bought, but didn’t, because you have an electric vehicle.
The average estimated monthly payment on a Tesla truck is about $1500. The monthly “stop-loss fee” would be about the cost of a tank of gas, for a Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup truck with a 24 gallon tank. That’s $100 added to your monthly payment, for petrol you are not using.
That’s exactly what this company did in 2006. So that’s what the audio is about.
