While this is an older story, it's significance is being revealed now.

USPS filed for a blockchain patent (on 47 pages) in Feb 2020 and it was granted to them on Aug 13, 2020 (Patent: US 2020/0258338):

This method of recording delivery of mail-in ballots ensures:

  • ballot were properly delivered (recording every time stamp at every station);
  • the route back to the polling place;
  • no additional ballots were injected;
  • no valid ballot were discarded;
  • ballots were addressed to the eligible voters (e.g. no dead people);
  • no ballots were mailed after the cut off time;
  • duplicate votes are identified.

This is an audit system for the mail-in voting system.

Trump administration had sufficient time to implement this system.
