Twisters is an upcoming American disaster film, serving as an independent sequel to the 1996 film Twister. The movie stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser now studying storm patterns in New York. Her friend Javi (portrayed by Anthony Ramos) lures her back to the plains to test a new innovative tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (played by Glen Powell), a reckless social media superstar who enjoys documenting his storm-chasing adventures. As the storm season intensifies, unprecedented terrifying phenomena unfold, and Kate, Tyler, and their rival teams find themselves in the path of multiple converging storm systems over central Oklahoma. The film weaves climate change into the plot. Twisters is set to be released worldwide by Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures on July 19, 2024.
