We bought a new car

A couple months ago I mentioned that it was time to start looking for a new car, well I did it.

Back Story

The old car is something that I have had since 2010 and it was 5 years old when I bought it. A week or so ago we were driving down the highway and it lost power. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the road safely and check to see what was wrong.

I have an OBDII reader in the car and read the codes. Something with the fuel control module.

I tried turning it on and off a couple of times, but still no power.

Finally I cleared the codes (I wanted to leave them in so I could have as much information for the shop as possible) and we were off again. We took the next exit and went the back way home.

Time to get that new car

On the drive home we decided it was time to get a new car and came up with the criteria that it will have to meet.

1. Fully Electric
2. Range: At least to the wildlife park and home.
3. Not a Tesla
4. In stock within 300km of our house.

When all this was put together we settled on a Hyundai Kona Electric.

We haven't installed a charger at the house (there is space though) or have done anything to prepare, but we will have it in front of our house soon.

From deciding to get a new car, to picking it up will be 8 days total, which is too long in my opinion.

I may write about the whole car buying experience in the future, it was fine, but we buying something of this premium I would have expected something "better". I've had better shopping experiences buying expensive pants.
