These elderly people are very peculiar, they speak of the island as if it were an entity holding them captive, as if they couldn't leave. The island and the elderly seem to harbor a disturbing secret, and even Sandrine's late grandmother was part of it. Upon investigation, it is discovered that a school for children had once been opened on the island, or rather, a sort of refuge to give the parents time to settle in after the war. Here, we will meet Sandrine's grandmother. This school was idyllic, the island vibrated with joy and laughter, the children were happy, well-dressed and well-fed, a true oasis of love and serenity. But at a certain point, their health deteriorates and strange drawings begin to appear on the walls, and the children become increasingly gaunt and ill. A strange being, a monster, seems to visit the children when they sleep and slowly pass from one child to the next. Sandrine's grandmother is skeptical at first, thinking they are just nightmares. The distance from her parents makes her doubt her and she begins to investigate this strange creature, which seems like a real nightmare.

However, it's a truly captivating novel with a strong plot twist. It's one of those novels that keeps you glued to the pages. It's written at a fairly fast pace and full of suspense, with no dull or boring moments. The characters are well-developed, and the novel blends horror, mystery, and thriller. I wasn't familiar with this author, but I've already pre-ordered his other books because I loved this one so much. I highly recommend it, you won't regret it!

No conocía a este autor, pero ya he reservado sus otros libros porque este me encantó. ¡La recomiendo muchísimo, no se arrepentirán!
