Seine fishing Cornwall

Back in February 2016, I took some photos(Nikon P610) of Seine fishing near Lusty Glaze Beach, Newquay, Cornwall, England.

When A shoal of fish is spotted in this case the Golden grey mullet(Liza aurata) boats are launched from the beach to deploy the seine net. The net is set up in a semi-circle shape to entrap the fish, the net itself hangs vertically in the water with its bottom edge held down by weights and its top edge buoyed by floats.
at each end of the net is a large rope that is operated by a team at each end. One team stays on the shore, while the other deploys the net around the shoal and returns to the shore with the other end of the net. It is then the case of hauling the net gradually into the shore for the catch.

At the time of catch, the Golden grey mullet were spawning in the bay, making them easier to spot and catch.
