Visiting Brussels (Belgium) for two days
Brussels, the vibrant and cosmopolitan capital of Belgium, is a city that seamlessly blends rich history with modern allure. As the de facto capital of the European Union, Brussels is a melting pot of cultures, languages, and influences. Let's delve into the cool facts that make Brussels a fascinating destination.
I stayed at the Marriott, and I got an upgrade to a suite. This room was more like an appartement!
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Brussels is often referred to as the "Heart of Europe" due to its central location within the continent. This strategic positioning played a crucial role in the city's development as a hub for trade, culture, and politics.
Brussels is hailed as the "Comic Strip Capital of the World." The city has a dedicated Comic Book Route, featuring over 50 murals of famous comic book characters painted on buildings. Tintin, one of the most beloved comic book characters globally, was created by Belgian artist Hergé and continues to be celebrated in Brussels.
I am personally not a big fan of comic books, however, I noticed little sketches featured on many things in Brussels. I just walked through the streets, and I ate lunch at Wagamama. I enjoyed eating at one of their restaurants in London before.
Brussels is a haven for chocolate lovers. With over 2,000 chocolate shops, the city boasts some of the finest chocolatiers in the world. The praline, a chocolate shell with a soft filling, was invented in Brussels, forever solidifying the city's status as a chocolate paradise.
Brussels serves as the de facto capital of the European Union, hosting the headquarters of the European Commission and the Council of the European Union. The EU institutions contribute to the city's international ambiance and attract diplomats, politicians, and professionals from around the globe.
Brussels is renowned for its gastronomic offerings, with Belgian waffles, fries, and beer topping the list. The city's culinary scene reflects its diverse influences, making it a paradise for food enthusiasts.
I went to a little Italian restaurant for dinner:
Afterwards, I also enjoyed a hookah at a bar:
