Abandoned Shit: lost your shoe?
I was out walking on the hill and I found this old shoe sole lying among the rocks.
It appeals to me because of the story it tells. It must have belonged to someone too poor to buy new shoes and when the sole cracked, it was repaired with wire. The wire repair held, which is unusual because one would expect a moulded shoe sole to crack further once holes have been made in it. At some point, it ended up on the hill and I don't know what became of the rest of the shoe, it wasn't nearby, but the sole has been through at least one bushfire and lies there baking in the sun all day, a testament to how poor people live.
