SpongeBob Dugout - Laser Engraving Project

I had the idea for this project for a while and actually did these a couple months ago now.. I just forgot to post them on here🤦‍♂

Oops.

I had two dugouts, or pinchie boxes, (whatever you want to call them) that I ordered with my whopping Facebook lawsuit payout of $23 dollars. To me, it was the best use of that money.

Engraving on dugouts has been in my mind for a long time and I finally picked up a couple to try out. I decided to share them here.. finally.

There were two graphics I had in a folder that I chose for my first attempts at this.

The classic Marlboro design but changed to Marijuana, and SpongeBob smoking a J. They seemed a good fit for what I was engraving on.

Here were the finished engravings.

A lot of times with my projects, after the engraving part but before painting, I often debate with myself if leaving it unpainted would look better.

The Marlboro logo I think would look fine either way but SpongeBob definitely needed some color.

The Marlboro wasn't holding the green well, I burned it kind of hot though. I could add another layer to it and that would help and I've considered maybe trying to add white.

SpongeBob I think turned out great!

I'm really happy with the way he turned out. Especially with how difficult it was with painting the fine lines.😂

Next one I make I'm going to try and make him slightly bigger to fill out more of the box surface and also to make painting a bit easier lol!

Time to add a little bit of Mod Podge or something to help protect the paint. Then find someone who wants a fancy new pinchie box!

I'm looking into doing some more dugouts in the near future. I'll most likely post them up.

My biggest issue before making more is ordering a bunch more boxes and finding more graphics that would be good. I love the SpongeBob but I need variety!
