Max MSP Programming

I am trying to write a post daily this month, have got off to a good start and then on certain days, it gets tougher, time is often a problem but thankfully I have found a new topic to write about and it ties in with the #hivesoundlibrary project, perhaps with #stem and #pob really well.

Let's explore some code over the coming weeks and this is a programming language that concentrates mainly on signal processing, which is fantastic for sound design and building synths, or maybe physical models of real world instruments or other natural sounds, such as the wind, rain and waves lapping against the shoreline.

I am fairly new to Max programming but have many decades of experience in coding, software development and building systems of various kinds.

Today whilst researching MAX MSP online, I discovered a very good video on the topic by a guy called Ersatz Ben, check out his other videos too.

Yes - this is complex and I've no idea what's going on - yet.

The great thing with Max "patches" like thus, is they are something you can work towards, it's programming, it's all just logic. Even better is that Ersatz gave away part of this patch. I copied and pasted it into a new Max patch and then recorded it, to generate this interesting soundscape.

There is a lot to learn and then there is Max for Live, that enables you to build devices for Ableton Live, there a load of course out there, I may look into one or two or be a cheapskate and just learn the hard way through good old trial and error.
