Photographing a red squirrel
Hello nature lovers, this time I want to share some photographs that I took a few months ago, of a red squirrel while it was resting in the highest part of a tree.
I took these photographs in March 2022, a few days after the end of winter, and at the beginning of spring when they begin to show themselves both in trees and on the ground, collecting acorns.
As I said before, it is a red squirrel or also called by its scientific name Sciurus vulgaris, which is one of the most widespread squirrels in the forests of northern Spain.
It normally lives and reproduces in coniferous forests, in the shadiest areas, although it can be found in other types of forests and also in large parks in some cities, as is my case.
Unlike other animals, squirrels do not hibernate, they remain active by living in nests or holes in trees, consuming what they have stored throughout the summer.
