Reflection Hunters Contest - Round 244 / My Favorite Square in the City

Plaza Martiana (Marti Square) is my favorite place in the city from a visual perspective. Every rainfall leaves reflections on this public space. After the recent Hurricane Melissa passed, the rising sun gifted us this image that I'm sharing with the Hivers.

This is one of the most visited spots in the historic center and a common meeting point. Its image has become a symbol that identifies the small city, featured on postcards and souvenirs.

Plaza Martiana was designed by a renowned local architect and physics enthusiast. He conceived it in 1995 to pay tribute to Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, on the centenary of his death in combat.

The site combines concepts of solar architecture with a collection of artistic works in murals and monuments alluding to historical events, personalities, and quotes. Among them, the solar calendar stands out, using a metal band that indicates over 60 significant events and locations in the Hero's life.
