Hand Made Custom Pool Table

From beginning to final tweaks and first games on a brand new pool table. "Cowboy Seafood" is a restaurant and bar in Bang Saray (Chonburi, Thailand) which has been open a few months. The owner being a keen pool player, decided to do get something as a showcase. Having made friends with a guy who has been building tables for a long time, the idea was hatched to use some product design knowledge (and searching the web for similar). After the basic table construction, basically any color or pattern type of veneer, side rails, cloth etc can be chosen. Based off photos and chosen materials the design is looking like something much more pricey yet is still a fully bespoke and hand made one off. Just the kind of thing we like around here, one for the mancave!

The table is now open for guests to play on whilst enjoying some food and drinks. Check out this Youtube video of it being finished and first game.

At the start ... Room placement

First of all the bare naked table arrived from the workshop where it had been put together up until this point. It's been transported in top and the base parts, and put together for the first time here.

The result is a very customized and high specification table built to exacting measurements. High grade rubbers, real slate for the table bed, and the pink cloth is a 'fast' variety also. The table was put together by someone with great experience in carpentry and having made many of them in the past. K66 is the type of rubber used on the rails. Once under the cloth the ball deflects from it perfectly.

Failed First Attempt

Won't linger too much on this lot (below in black) who arrived and delivered all the accessories, but decided they were not able to fit the cloth and stating assumptions we later found to be untrue. A little unscrupulous in wanting to charge a few hundred dollars more and take parts to Bangkok for adjustment. In the end none of it was necessary and another company managed the fitting without any problems whatsoever, and complimented how precise and well made the table actually was. The next tables by this builder will stick to the new company, who did it all better and cheaper!

Previous team who decided the table wasn't good enough so were sent home and a local team called in to finish the job. They seemed to be angling to exploit money for unnecessary extra work. (No names for reasons of liability). In the end everything worked out.

Nice Balls!

Ordered from Bangkok, these are pro grade recreational billiard set. It has a camo pattern and cross-hairs on the numbers. They not only look really cool, they help with your aim also, as you can target on the various markings.

Dressing the Table

We found an excellent small company here in Bang Saray who fitted the cloth and other final parts to the table perfectly. Everything is aligned straight and tight. They even spotted and eliminated a tiny imperfection on the slate bed by sanding it down. They're eyes and attention to detail were spot on. The company is run by a lady who is very experienced and laser sharp in seeing how to get the job done, and the two staff members seen in the shots.
