Splinterlands: Vruz from SPS Stake

My focus on maintaining a complete Collection for my Splinterlands experience continues! The latest opportunity came with a unique Promo card development at the request of the SPS Dao. It is truly an example of the power of community and the potential it can provide as the ecosystem continues to expand and develop. After a proposal put forward from the Community which was subsequently approved, SPS staking was given additional utility by providing an opportunity to purchase a Promo card for each 1,000 SPS Staked in exchange for 1 Voucher.

This provides a great economic case for various reasons. First, we saw shifts in SPS staked leading up to the snapshot as users took liquid SPS from different places like Liquidity Pools, markets, and wallets to stake for this opportunities. Having SPS Staked makes liquidity more scarce for markets to make moves according to supply and demand. While it was not enough to materially move the price, it was a good utility for the staking. It also provided a sink for Vouchers as the vouchers received would be burned. This along side the DEC-B exchange, has taken a good amount of Vouchers out of the market.

The card itself was interesting and dynamic which is why is has been received well from the playerbase. With only 2 mana, it is quite versatile for battles. Being given the sneak ability and subsequently getting the new Martyr ability is probably where it excels the most at. Its speed enables it to get into action before suffering its fate only to then help it’s nearest card teammate. The fact that it is Common is probably a little challenging. It will take 400 cards to max and given the amount out there, it will likely be rare to see at the higher levels. Prices have remained strong and have exceeded the last Promo card, Artemis the Bear.

This project has been a success at all levels as it provides ideas on what can be done with the DAO. It also demonstrates that Community driven ideas can add engagement and value to the ecosystem. I also like the fact that my commitment to the project by staking SPS is being given value. I can only wish that Runi had been done this way as I ended paying much more due to a glitch with my wallet vs others who bought plenty of Whitelist only to flip them later. Experiments are worth the effort as it will provide a good pathway on how to approach things. Looking forward to more to come from the team and community!
