My last beach walk

My last decent beach walk was at Woolgoolga roughly halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New South Wales mid coast. We were on our way home after a bit of a house-sitting trip away. I have always wanted to stay in the beach front caravan park in this town, but it was always booked out. I suppose it does not help if you do things last minute like we usually do. As it turned out the fuel prices had risen steeply, with all the trouble in the middle east and there must have been a few cancelations. We ended up getting a nice beach side cabin walking distance from everything. It was a great spot to walk, run and swim. I was keen to check out the old shipwreck again but almost missed it as it was almost completely covered with sand.
"Buster" the boat broke free from the old Woolgoolga pier in the 1890s and has been sitting on the beach ever since. An interesting reminder of time gone by.

There must have been a storm last time we visited and there was a lot more exposed.

Woopie is part Solitary Islands Coastal Walk which goes 60 kilometres from Sawtell to Red Rock. We have visited a few different places along its route but would love to see more. They reckon thousands of years ago when the sea levels where lower you could walk right out to the Islands

Such a great spot on a nice day. I think we will be back.
