Copenhagen Denmark 1991

So my Ancestor.com genealogy DNA test showed I have 1% Scandinavian in my results. England has been raided and invaded so many times over the years it could be possible. I was able to trace some of my ancestors back to Norfolk in England which I believe had some Viking settlers at some point, so it could be possible.

This was all unknown to me at the time, I was backpacking around Europe, way back in 1991 but maybe that why I had the urge to visit. That and maybe I like the tall blonde types. I had a Eurorail youth pass for a month. It was the middle of winter and I was not sure if I would ever make it back this way so I decide to cram as much in as possible.

I would have stayed at a Youth hostel dormitory close to the centre of town, chatted and made friends with somebody else that was travelling and then explored for a day or two. It is a shame I have no recollection at all of who ever took the photos of me with my old cheap film camera. I am lucky to still have them. I didn't plan much or expect anything. I was getting out and about seeing a bit of the world. I would read a bit of the lonely planet guide then move on.

Youtube travel experts now tell me the little mermaid is over rated and very crowded. Back in winter 1991 we were the only ones there. It was probably not the right thing to do climbing out on the statue but I was young, probably showing off and she survived my visit and is still there today.

I had no idea, they had Royal traditions too.

Hopefully I get to visit Copenhagen and Denmark again and see a bit more rather than just rushing through.
