Continuamos con la evolución del ajedrez hasta nuestros días, llegamos a quien fue el primer campeón del mundo de manera oficial, aunque para la gran mayoría fue Paul Morphy aunque no de manera oficial. Hoy es el turno de Wilhelm Steinitz. Dominó el panorama internacional durante varias décadas. Además, permaneció invicto en encuentros individuales a lo largo de más de 30 años (1862-1894).

Aunque comenzó adoptando este enfoque romántico en sus inicios, lleno de gambitos y sacrificios, posteriormente transformaría el mundo del ajedrez para siempre con la introducción del nuevo estilo de juego posicional. Steinitz dejó de participar en competiciones oficiales hasta 1882. We continue with the evolution of chess to this day, we come to who was the first official world champion, although for the vast majority it was Paul Morphy, although not officially. Today it is Wilhelm Steinitz's turn. It dominated the international scene for several decades. Furthermore, he remained undefeated in individual matches for more than 30 years (1862-1894).

Although he began adopting this romantic approach in the beginning, full of gambits and sacrifices, he would later transform the world of chess forever with the introduction of the new style of positional play. He defended his ideas firmly until, eventually, many other teachers of the time accepted them. This new positional approach laid the foundations for modern chess.

Steinitz stopped participating in official competitions until 1882. He defeated Blackburne again in a match 7-0 in 1876, but with that exception, he devoted himself mainly to writing about chess rather than playing. He even worked as a journalist specializing in chess for a prestigious sports magazine of the time.
