Samtavro Monastery
On the weekend i spent my time in Mtskheta, this city is full with history. Mtskheta is older then city Tbilisi.
Its only 20 km from Tbilisi.
In this post I'll tell you about Samtavro Monastery.
Samtavro Monastery is lockated in Mtskheta. St. Nino lived here, King Mirian and Queen Nana are buried here. For a long time Samtavro was the center of the Christian church.
Bulit started in the 4th century and reconstructed in 11th century.
You can see here several monuments : the main temple, St. Nino's church, bell tower and fence of tower.
The monastery was destroyed from earthquakes and from hands of enemies.
Here you can see monk Gabriel, that was his last will to buried here in Samtavro.
