Jvari Monastery (VI Century)
Jvari Monastery is located near Mstkheta.
We can say that original name is "Church of the holy cross". Jvari means cross.
Legend says that the cross of St. Nino , one of the most revered saints who convented Georgia to Christianity, is kept here. Temple was built on the site of holy cross, which later became Jvari.
From this monastery you can see beautiful view, the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.
