I realised I hadn't shared the majority of the animal photographs I have had sitting around for a while now, some of which being some of my favourite photographs both on 35mm film and digital. Though reaching that status for different reasons. I love penguins! They're tiny, cute, and very curious little creatures. Fortunately, at a nearby zoo, they are pretty easy to get a relatively close view of. Amplified by the use of 85mm F1.8 and 50mm F1.8 portrait lenses.

The first image was shot on black-and-white film stock with my Canon AE-1 on the 50mm 1.8 lens, it's probably my favourite of the group for the simplicity it holds. Almost to some degree looking rather depressing. Though our digital portraits pulls us back into the joyful, showing the true nature of the penguins: fun and rather playful. The others being shot on a Sony A7 2 with the 85mm 1.8 lens. I quite like the second photograph for the colour it holds, as well as the very oval bokeh that surrounds. The third shows the small size of the little penguins, while the fourth displays their rather silly personalities.

I look forward to getting a new digital camera soon and maybe a new lens or two, perhaps revisit the zoo and capture some of the animals one more time with some different focal lengths. Though I know I have to return to those penguins!

For the digital lens used: it is a regular Sony FE model, so far from the most expensive and sharpest of their lenses in the full frame mirrorless range, but for the price I think it's an incredibly solid piece of kit. I definitely recommend it; you'll notice a difference in sharpness in the Zeiss lenses, but those are two to three times the price of the FE model.
