Episode 5: The Ancient Trees who thousand of year

The Great Heidelberg Tun (1751 CE); an extremely large wine vat contained within cellars of Heidelberg Castle, Germany - with a capacity of 221,726 litres, due to drying of wood its current capacity is 219,000 litres.

About 130 oak trees were used in its construction. There have been four such barrels in history of Heidelberg.

This tree, which has a trunk 15ft in diameter, at least 2900 years old, based on graveyard found nearby.
This tree likely lived through writing of Iliad (golden age of Athens), rise of Roman Empire, and birth of Christ; and then lived for 2000 years after that. It still produces olives, as well.
