An optometrist in Canada developed the Ocumetics Bionic Lens, which allows you to 1) see at least 3x farther, 2) prevent cataracts by replacing your natural rotting lens, 3) eliminate any need for corrective lenses.
Surgeons squirts the contact-size lens directly onto your eyeball, thereby replacing your normal, boring seeing abilities with superhuman ones. The whole process is ~8 minutes. When factoring the time it takes to complete trials on the blind, doctors suggest that these will be on the Canadian market in ~2 yrs.
Who knows, may be those who have the lens will be freakier than tetrachromats.
