Being Comfortable

Being comfortable in your own skin is probably one of the hardest things people with weight and body image issues go through. I know for a long time I idolized the long legs with slight muscle definition, the perfectly toned arms, the peekaboo abs, the tan complexion of perfection….. Yeah perfection…. perfection that we see in photographs, just doesn’t exist on a daily basis in real life. I know because I reached what I thought was perfection.

I thought when I reached here, that I would feel different. I thought I would feel so much more powerful, that all my cravings for pizza and cake would go away, that I would be able use this as a starting point to maintain for the rest of my life… because why not? If all those models, actors, singers etc can do It, why can’t I? Oh because I am normal…. I don’t have a cook making me all the healthy food I’m supposed to eat everyday, I work 8-4:30 with an hour commute each way, my workouts can only be an hour or two, I like having a social life and I felt miserable looking like this. All of these sound like excuses but they’re reality.

Guess what though. I am now happy in my skin! I am comfortable being me. These are all me. I will have strong legs, I will have an awesome bicep peak, I will have a flat stomach with a strong core and I will be whatever color my skin decides to be that season. I am human. Progress Not Perfection!

Are you comfortable in your skin?
