The Antarctic Continent is the last discovered continent In 1773 by British captain James Cook he was the first to cross the Antarctic Antarctic circle of Antarctica only discovered in 1820. Who discovered it first was not clear, for there were three from three countries claim it. They are **(Fabian von Bellingshausen of Russia, Edward Bransfield of Great Britain, and Nathaniel Palmer of the United States).** In 1911 Roald Amundsen of Norway was the first to reach the South Pole, Roald Amundsen began his journey on 19 October 1911 and reached the South Pole on December 14, 1911. *Antarctica is the coldest and barrenest place on the surface of the earth, Almost the entire Antarctic region is covered with ice with a thickness of more than 3km, Because the ice itself is slowly pushed to the beach which then broken into a fraction of the iceberg in the sea ice south. On this continent there is also a giant mountain range of Transantartika mountains that extends nearly 5,000km.* These mountains divide the Antarctic Continent into two main areas of East Antarctica (Great Antarctic) and West Antarctica (Little Antarctic) ![image](
