From Elsewhere: Not everyone in the world thinks the same or has the same moral code.

There’s a fantastic article by Daniel Dieppe in The Critic magazine that blows apart many of the smug conceits about universalism. In his article Mr Dieppe points out that we are not the same, the morality of the West is not the same as morality elsewhere. His article points out that concepts such as honesty, a dislike of nepotism, welcoming the stranger are unique to the West and are not found anywhere else.

Mr Dieppe said:

“The mistake Westerners make is to think most people share their Christian-enthused morality and psychology. In the last 15 years, that myth has been shattered. In 2005, 57 per cent of Americans optimistically thought democracy would “probably” be created in Iraq, and vainly spent over $2 trillion failing to create it. According to the most recent Democracy Index, Iraq ranks 126th out of 166 countries for democracy, while Afghanistan is dead last.”

Well said there. Western morality which is based on Christian and Jewish foundation stones is a product of the West and not found elsewhere unless in former Western colonies that have kept up a Western style social, legal and political order.
