A Weekend To Remember

Every weekend begins on Friday but on this special occasion, mine started on Thursday. My bosom friend is going to be tying the knot. From his comity of friends, he appointed me as his best man. This was sometimes in 2012. I have had to undertake the assignment of a best man for two of my friends earlier and I can tell you that it isn't an easy job
I sought permission from my office to be absent from school for two days, Thursday and Friday. It is fully understood that my table will be piled up with a load of work on Monday morning for not being at work for two days.

Wedding Preparations

Aside from the financial involvement, it is not an easy task to plan a wedding event. Trust me, I have done it before but every wedding ceremony has its peculiarities. We started with supervising the church decoration. My friend, Abdul, and his wife-to-be, Mariam had decided that royal blue and white is their chosen color. We had to make the decorator apply those colors too.

It took two days' work to complete the decorations. Marian had bombarded me with calls to take a shot and send to her via WhatsApp to see how the church hall looked. Her joy knew no bounds when she saw it. The aisle had the most beautiful rug and pillars around, that alone made her jump for joy.
You know they say the bride owns the wedding day, they wouldn't like anything to come between.
As of Friday evening, everything is set for the wedding procession at the church. I am beginning to love this best man job🤣😂

Reception & Wedding Party

The most sort after during a wedding ceremony is the reception. In fact, most guys will opt to sit in the reception hall rather than wait under the long sermon that usually accompanies a marriage solemnization in the church.
Abdul had wanted it that the table setting is reserved for his college class mates, his university course mates, relatives and that of his wife and other listed out for my attention.

The food which is one of the core reasons for attending wedding receptions was contacted out with drinks to a confectionary company who would ensure that the guests are served during the party.

Every newly wedded couple would during their entry to the reception dance and be noticed. Marian and Abdul did not take chances at giving a good dance as the DJ played some of the best songs released during the period.
Every programme presented during the reception was on point. One of such that will always stick to my memory is the bride's dance with her father. It was so emotional and a good sight to see.

Gifts for the couple rolled in from different quarters. I had the most amazing best man presentations ever during Mariam and Abdul's wedding.

As I write this post, the scenes of the wedding keeps flashing through my mind. It is one of an #idealweekend for me.
