O.R.C.O. Update the SandWall
Hello everybody!
This week I show you some progress I made with ORCO adding an intro cinematic, some gameplay refinement and a new area.
Going back to an old project is always a bit of an headache but this one as some pretty straight foward set other then the little trick that it's the level that's coming toward the player so I have to remember to set to that accordingly.
The intro cutscene took me a while as it has many things going for it that I never tried such as syncing the music, the fade of the video, animation and text.
I choose some simple thing with the ship flying in the background and an operator explaining to the player the phases of his descent into the program.
Here's a video showcasing it.
The gameplay changes I made to ease up the starting area are:
- A faster ship movement.
- Doubled the collection of Ammo gained upon parrying enemy projectiles.
- Increased the points given by destroying higher level enemy threats.
This changes are brought over the second part: the SandWall
After defeating Bodd the player will navigate through portals to reach this new area, a barren digital desert where new foes await.
I'm very close to finishing it up with the last touches to the boss of the area The Wall that you can see here below.
