A Reflection on Matsyasana
For those of you with hormonal imbalance add this to your practice:
Matsyãsana is one of the Asanas that help regulate the activity of the thyroid, and stimulates healthy blood supply.
The thyroid sits near the base of the neck. It is a butterfly shape gland and produces hormone that regulates the metabolism affecting:
the speed of the heart beat, how deep the breath is, weight, body temperature, cholesterol levels and woman’s menstrual cycle.
For those of you who struggle with menstrual, thyroid, and hormonal issues and also for those of you who want to prepare the body for pregnancy, include this mini sequence in your yoga practice:
Shoulder stand - plow - fish. Just before corpse pose or before your forward bends. For advanced practitioners begin your yoga practice with head stand and its variations and add the sequence above before your forwards bends.
